Part of the ECU's control of the fan is based on vehicle speed. This is to prevent the fan from trying to operate while the vehicle is moving at high speeds, and this re-wiring doesn't take that into consideration. I'm not sure if it would negatively affect the life of the fan or the associated wiring but I don't like hack-jobs either way. I do agree, though, that the A/C strongly benefits from having the aux fan operate at slow speeds. Especially in a system that's been converted from R12 to R134A.
